Technology never fails to amaze me. My mind has been left in ‘aw.’ After learning about who these three men were, I cannot help but to want to know more about technology and the way it is developed everyday.

Gordon Moore is an entrepreneur as well as a computer scientist. He is the co-founder and chairman of Intel. Moore is also famous for his once followed law. He states that the purpose/point he was trying to make, was that integrated circuits were the road to less expensive technology. If this same technology was a applied to cars, cars would be able to run at speeds of 3,000 mph and costs 4 cents!
If you compare the first microprocessor, to today’s nano meter processor, the speed is 35,000 times faster! Now a-days, his law is no longer acceptable because processors cannot continue to speed up forever. Although his law is no longer in use, because of his law, other companies have made incredible things in computers happen.

Ray Kurzweil is best known of his involvement in text-to-voice computer speaking. This is huge because we use this everyday. Have yo ever head of “Siri” or “Alexa?” Yup, that was one of Kurzweil’s many predictions. Speaking of predictions, he is one for great predictions! In fact, most of his predictions weren’t just a thought, but the reality we live in now. These predictions include people commanding computer with their voices and computer displays would be built into eye glasses (better known as virtual reality.) Kurzweil also predicted back in 2005, that by the 2010’s, virtual solutions would be able to do realtime language. In other words, Kurzweil’s mind is filled with amazing ideas. He even says to expect that most diseases will go away because nanobots will become much smarter than current medicine.

Peter Thiel is the co-creator of the online banking service PayPal and a major investor and board member of Facebook. Peter Thiel’s “The End of the Future theory explains how technology is failing us. Thiel supports how advanced technology is for new inventions as well as everyday living. But, feels as if no matter how much technology has developed, there’s not enough technology in the medical field. There are so many diseases and sicknesses that aren’t treatable. With all this technology, you would think some of it would be used in findings for curing diseases like cancer. Theil believes that technology is so advanced, but is not used to improve the future. He says “We wanted flying cars, instead, we got 140 characters.” He speaks explains that biotechnology and medical technology progress, but at a diminishing rate. It costs a billion dollars to get a new drug approved the FDA, so it is no surprise that more and more people are using these advanced technologies to make new video games instead. It makes you stop and think if all the advanced technology that we have, are really being used for things that are more important than creating a new V.R video game.

Although all these theories are unique, they are also similar. Thiel’s theory states that it costs more to have a new drug approved by the FDA than it is to create a new video game. According to Kurweil’s predictions, he states that in the future diseases will simply go away due to nanobots become smarter than current medicines. You can agree with either or, but I do believe that technologies need to be used to cure these diseases that are taking so many people’s lives.

One thing I did find interesting about Kuweil’s theory, was all of his major predictions for the future. The one I found most interesting, was the fact that he was involved in the inventing of the text-to-voice computer speaking. To think that having some sort of A.I at the tip of your fingers, makes me think about how close we are to more and more technologies.
