Blog Post 2 (How it stood out)

What stood out the most to me from this chapter, was when Dewey said “To one school, the natural is primary and fundamental; and its tendency is to make little of distinctly intellectual nurture. Its mottoes are freedom, self-expression, individuality, spontaneity, play, interest, natural unfolding, and so on.”

It stood out to me the most, because I feel like it’s so true. Schools are a place for nurturing and learning. But, I do agree that it also help teach us about self expression, we find our interests as well as our individuality.

This particular section can be related to my career path, because I truly believe that as an educator, we must allow out students to use their creativity to show self expression. This also bring a more engaging path for students to follow. This will allow students to want to learn. It shows them an organized way of doing things. This will help the, branch out and grow.
